The Darkover Crisis began seventeen years ago when the organization known as Eclipse sought to capture the Colossi, gargantuan, advanced flying machines from a long-lost civilization. With an army of Eclipsites in tow, they laid siege to Eraveil, home of the Caelestite race. Very few survivors were left in the wake of their genocide. Finally, seven years later, the Eclipsite army was ultimately routed by the combined military might of Astra, and the Darkover Crisis was brought to an end.
