This article is a work in progress. We hope to have it completed soon!

A colossus, or colossi, are the gigantic artificial intelligence-using structures built by the Caelestite people.

They have been referred to as being both mechanical and organic. With complete functionality, a colossus is sentient and can communicate with its (assumed) Caelestite Navigator, although there are Aurorian pilots that can operate them with comparatively limited abilities, like Bopper. At one point, the Illumina Federation ran a Navigator Development Program in an attempt to train candidate Aurorians to become pilots, although it was unsuccessful.

List of known Colossi[]

Appearance[]

Like other Caelestite-made constructs, colossi are commonly of light exterior colors. As indicated by the name, they are of particularly large size to accomodate large numbers of passengers. The colossi also tend to be modeled after animals, both mythical and real, such as the dragon-like appearance of Soroz and the lizard-like appearance of Lepidoz.

On the interior, the appearance is like that of other Caelestite buildings, using darker colors than the outside and geometric forms. However, it can be freely transformed by a Caelestite pilot to suit their desires and is not restrained by the Caelestite architectural style (e.g. the Cafe in Soroz).

The material they are made out of is described as being hard, but nonmetal.

Functionality[]

A colossus requires many now-difficult to obtain parts to operate at maximum capabilities. If broken or missing, it can cause failures in systems like the artificial intelligence that gives them sentience. Each colossus has a personality through this. Colossi are also capable of feeling temperature and contact, and can express it as pain. Memories are stored as files that can be recalled by both the colossus and those that establish a mind link with it. Despite this, they can be overwritten and effectively "forgotten."

Energy conduits link throughout the colossus to supply power, fueled by Lumina energy from a Lumina Grid.

Through the controls in the bridge, known in Soroz to appear as an organ keyboard, the Navigator pilots the Colossus by playing its keys after establishing the psychic mind link with it. A built-in navigation system and map can guide the colossi back to Eraveil.

Known Parts[]

  • Echo Tablet
  • Colossus Patches I,II, & III

Use[]

The colossi seem to have multiple uses, indicated by the variation of tools each have available and the different classifications. Common between them is their large size, allowing people to not only ride within them but to live comfortably with space to spare, and their mobility, both on land and in air.

For example, Soroz contains powerful life support and medical services, as well as relatively fast movement, while Lepidoz is especially armored.
