The Caelestites are a race in the world of Eoria. After the Darkover Crisis, most Caelestites were wiped out of their home territory of Eraveil in the west of Astra. As of now, the only known living Caelestite is the Navigator.
Caelestites are unable to use Luminatics, but are able to see the Light Trail. Caelestites also harbor psychic abilities that allow them to communicate telepathically and connect to specialized equipment through a mind link. This supplements their physically weak nature.
Appearance[]
Caelestites had primarily more subdued colored hair, ranging in whites, browns, and sometimes reds. Eye color followed similarly, with the addition of possibly green. In physical structure, they are otherwise similar to Aurorians.
Clothing frequently consisted of white overcoats and ponchos, often with high collars or hoods. These jackets were decorated with lined patterns and gold and black colored ornamentation, like buttons, clips, and badges. Common colors for clothing include brown, gold, yellow, grey, and black. Other common articles of clothing include the striped headbands (recognizable on the Navigator), gloves, belts, and mostly black and grey bottoms.
Culture[]
Caelestites are popularly considered to have been a pacifistic group of people by outsiders. They valued concepts like freedom and nature, embodied in the dandelions throughout Eraveil, which were used especially in holiday celebrations like the Windelion festival. Despite this, their contact with the outside world was limited, even in trade, and the vast majority of Caelestites never left Eraveil without permission from the Caelestite elders.
Caelestite funerary tradition buries the dead in the earth so that they may return to nature. Other holidays included a festival where a clay pot would be filled with seeds beforehand and broken on the day of, so that their agricultural harvests would be good.
The concept of continuity was also highly important and considered the mathematical representation of nature. Because of this, Caelestites used circular imagery to depict it, as circles do not have corners and hard edges. Nautilus shells were used as containers for a liquid volumetric currency, as their spiral was also representative of natural continuity.
The ancient Caelestites may have come from the Dark Zone with their Colossi.
Art[]
Caelestites made sculptures of things like the colossi and vases. For festivals, they also made dolls.
Architecture[]
Caelestite architecture, like much of their other creations, utilizes geometric shapes in mostly white and black colors. Exteriors of buildings are built out of the white stones of Eraveil, which may serve to disguise them and hide settlements from detection.
Notable Caelestite buildings include the Obelisk of Return and the Cloud Gardens structures.
Food[]
Caelestites used vending machines to dispense things like energy drinks.
Foreign relations[]
The Caelestites did have contact and mail exchange with outside factions, but nevertheless had a poor perception of Aurorians.
Law[]
The average Caelestite was limited in rights, and dissent was considered a criminal offense. Those considered "heretics" were imprisoned in the Exile Zone of the Obelisk of Return, for crimes such as encouraging "free thought" and "progressive ideas."
Authorization to access certain things and make commands through them required ranked authorization, and were otherwise forbidden with imporper clearance.
Military[]
The majority of the military power of the Caelestite people came from the Colossi and Eclipsites under their control. Under the "Highest Decree," warfare was their most important duty.
Handheld weapons such as Laser Guns were available in emergencies to Caelestites, which used an "energy clip" as ammunition. They operated under a mind link to connect with artificial intelligence assistance. Laser Guns are nonlethal.
Special Attackers also served as powerful defense against outsiders, which put targets into a hibernation state, where all bodily functions are suspended.
Technology[]
Caelestite technology was highly advanced and is now mostly unreplicatable by Aurorian hands. Most notably are the colossi, who contain complex artificial intelligence. The Fireflies also utilize artificial intelligence, albeit in a more limited fashion, to contribute to automated procedures in both Colossi and Caelestite buildings. Caelestite medical technology is advanced enough to restore critical conditions to health, if not stronger than before. These were in part created by special materials that could transmit energy well, which glow when activated. Power of these systems relies on the sun, as an eclipse disables it.
Caelestites kept history and memories as data within their devices, such as the Circular System.
They also used mechanical looms to produce textiles.
