Once an Aurorian has reached their max level, they can ascend. The ascension level is marked by a set of overlapping Xs. As a character ascends, the level of ascension will go from gray to blue. All Aurorians start from Ascend 0 (A0), which max level is 30. Depending on the rarity of the Aurorian, they can ascend up to two or three times. Aurorians with a rarity of three stars can only ascend twice, while Aurorians with a rarity of four to six stars can ascend thrice. The third ascension also unlocks their alternative arts, otherwise known as ascended arts.

In order for an Aurorian to ascend, they must meet certain requirements. The first is that they must reach their max level, which changes with each ascension. The second is that they require these types of ascension materials: two elemental materials and one faction material. The higher the ascension, the rarer the materials needed for ascension. The basic and regular materials are the easiest to get and can be obtained through main quest battles, main quest rewards, Dispatch Quests, made in the the Workshop, purchased from the Store, or Resource Raids. Advanced materials can also be obtained through quest battles, the Store, as main quest rewards, or made in the Workshop. Premium materials can be obtained through quest battles, but have a low drop rate. Premium materials can be made in the Workshop, purchased through the Store, or given as main quest rewards. All elemental ascension materials can also be obtained through the elemental Spires. Nightium will also be needed to ascend Aurorians. The cost to ascend depends on ascension level and rarity.
